PRESS RELEASE
Jordan Station, AUGUST 1, 2024 – The Cántaro Institute, a reformed confessional organization committed to the advancement of the Christian worldview for the reformation and renewal of the church and culture, is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of its publishing endeavors through the generous donation of Paideia Press and all its titles and copyrights. This remarkable gift will see Paideia Press stand alongside Cántaro Publications as the second publishing imprint under the Cántaro Institute.
Paideia Press has long been renowned for its commitment to producing and distributing works that align with a reformed biblical world-and-life view. To be specific, it has been the privileged publisher of a God-glorifying philosophy: Creation-Fall-Redemption, the foundational belief of all understanding. Paideia’s print catalogue has featured works by several reformed thinkers, such as the Dutch philosopher Herman Dooyeweerd, H. Evan Runner, Willem J. Ouweneel, Danie F. M. Strauss, Andree Troost, amongst others. Readers well acquainted with Paideia Press’ recent titles will recall Dooyeweerd’s The Roots of Western Culture and The Twilight of Western Thought, Runner’s The Relation of the Bible to Learning, Ouweneel’s The Heidelberg Diary and Adam, Where Are You?, Strauss’ Philosophy: The Discipline of Disciplines, and Troost’s What is Reformational Philosophy? Those familiar with the early history of Paideia Press will remember titles such as the four-volume series of Promise & Deliverance by S. G. De Graff, Herman Veldkamp’s The Farmer from Tekoa: On the Book of Amos, and Anne De Vries’ The Story Bible for Older Children. Altogether, this donation includes an extensive collection of significant titles that have enriched the reformed Christian community for decades. The Cántaro Institute is deeply grateful for this invaluable contribution, which will significantly enhance our ability to offer diverse reformational and impactful publications.
“We are honored and excited to welcome Paideia Press as an integral part of the Cántaro Institute, as a matter of fact, as the central heart of what we do,” said Rev. Steven R. Martins, Chairman of the Cántaro Institute. “This generous literary donation, which we consider a crown jewel of Christian thought, not only broadens our catalogue but most importantly strengthens our commitment to providing resources that embrace, inform, and inspire our protestant faith according to reformational principles. We look forward to continuing the legacy of Paideia Press while expanding its reach and impact.”
The Cántaro Institute will continue to operate according to its core values and vision, and invites its supporters to join in celebrating this exciting development and to stay tuned for upcoming releases and initiatives under both the Cántaro Publications and Paideia Press imprints.
