Cántaro Institute Announces Plans for Worldview Science Center in Ontario

PRESS RELEASE

WELLANDPORT, ONTARIO — August 22, 2026 — Cántaro Institute is pleased to announce plans for the development of the Worldview Science Center, a major new educational initiative to be established at Worldview Campus in southern Ontario.

The announcement follows news shared today by Ken Ham, founder and CEO of Answers in Genesis (AiG), highlighting AiG’s partnership with Cántaro Institute and its advisory role in the development of the new center.

The Worldview Science Center will be developed at Worldview Campus, Cántaro Institute’s 171-acre property near Wellandport in Ontario’s Niagara region. The campus, formerly home to a boys’ military school, contains approximately 57,000 square feet of existing institutional space across 10 serviced buildings, including classrooms, residences, administrative facilities, a full-sized gymnasium, and a 250-seat chapel.

Cántaro Institute is presently transforming the property into a Christian ministry and educational campus where a biblical worldview can take concrete, institutional form.

“I don’t see my lifelong commitment to Worldview Campus as a change of course, but as the culmination of what the Lord has been preparing me for.”

Rev. Steven R. Martins, Director of Cántaro Institute and Manager of Worldview Campus

A New Science Center Grounded in a Biblical Worldview

The proposed Worldview Science Center is envisioned as an immersive educational destination where families, churches, Christian schools, students, and visitors can explore the natural world through the lens of Scripture.

Current plans envision interactive scientific exhibits, educational programming, a planetarium and dome theatre, together with access to the wider educational and recreational facilities of Worldview Campus.

The project will be developed with the assistance of Answers in Genesis, the international apologetics ministry responsible for the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky.

Joe Owen, Director of Worldwide Outreach for Answers in Genesis, is working with Cántaro Institute to help establish and launch the Worldview Science Center. Owen will assist in the center’s development while continuing his international responsibilities with AiG.

“Through cutting-edge presentations and interactive exhibits, we want visitors not only to learn about the natural world but also to recognize the glory of the Creator behind it. Ultimately, our goal is to point people to our triune God whose glory is declared via creation (Ps. 19:1) and seen redemptively in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:6).”

The Worldview Science Center and Planetarium

A central feature of the project will be a new planetarium and immersive dome theatre designed to introduce visitors to the extraordinary scale, complexity, beauty, and order of the created universe.

Proposed programming will take visitors through stars, nebulae, galaxies, and other astronomical phenomena while presenting scientific discovery within an explicitly Christian worldview.

The vision extends beyond astronomy. The Worldview Science Center is intended to become a multidisciplinary environment where the study of creation is connected to the deeper questions of truth, meaning, purpose, human responsibility, and worship.

As Owen explains:

“Our hope is that every visitor leaves with a greater sense of wonder, gratitude, and awe for both creation and its Creator.”

The Crown Jewel of Worldview Campus

The Worldview Science Center will form part of the much larger vision for Worldview Campus.

At the heart of the campus is the Paideia Study Center, Cántaro Institute’s planned center for theology, philosophy, publishing, research, worldview formation, and Christian leadership development. The campus is also being developed to accommodate Christian education, camps, conferences, retreats, family programming, ministry partnerships, and cultural engagement.

Rather than operating as an isolated attraction, the Worldview Science Center will reinforce this broader institutional mission.

“Worldview Campus is a place where the Christian worldview takes tangible form. The Worldview Science Center will not compete with the many initiatives already taking place across the campus; rather, it will complement them and serve as their crown jewel.”

Joe Owen

The long-term vision is to establish a distinctly Christian educational destination in Ontario where biblical faith, science, philosophy, education, culture, and Christian discipleship are brought together under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

From an Open Field to a Destination

The future site of the Worldview Science Center is presently an open field once used by students of the property’s former military school.

Over the coming years, Cántaro Institute intends to transform this part of the property into a destination capable of welcoming families, school groups, churches, tourists, and visitors from across Canada and beyond.

Architectural planning, fundraising, exhibit development, and campus renovations will proceed in stages as the project advances.

For Cántaro Institute, however, the purpose of the project is already clear: to study creation in such a way that creation directs our attention to its Creator.

As Psalm 19:1 declares:

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”

Ken Ham Highlights the Project

In announcing the initiative on August 22, Answers in Genesis founder and CEO Ken Ham described the Worldview Science Center as particularly important in the increasingly post-Christian Canadian cultural context.

Ham wrote that Answers in Genesis is partnering with Cántaro Institute to advise on the development of the center and encouraged Christians to pray for and support the initiative.

His announcement brings international attention to a project that is only beginning.

There are buildings to renovate, architectural plans to develop, exhibits to design, funds to raise, and considerable work still ahead. But Cántaro Institute believes Worldview Campus presents a remarkable opportunity to establish a lasting Christian institution for generations to come.

We invite you to follow the development of the Worldview Science Center here on the Cántaro Institute website, where we will publish project announcements, construction updates, concept designs, photographs, videos, and opportunities to support the project as it moves forward.
