Worldview Campus, a ministry of the Cántaro Institute, has been undergoing extensive renovations and improvements over the course of the past six months as we prepare for our official grand opening. We are now approaching the point where we can begin announcing and unveiling many of the exciting developments taking shape across the campus. Although our grand opening is anticipated for the fall of 2026, we will be gradually introducing the projects, programs, and facilities that will define the Worldview Campus experience.
Among these initiatives is our new seasonal Worldview Lecture Series, beginning with a special presentation by biologist Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson. We are also developing the D.F.M. Strauss Science Den, an interactive learning environment designed to cultivate curiosity in both children and adults. Visitors will be able to explore disciplines such as physics, geology, astronomy, paleontology, meteorology, and more through hands-on experiences. The Science Den will feature microscopes, telescopes, a weather monitoring station, and a growing collection of scientific instruments and educational displays. We look forward to revealing the finished project in the months ahead.
Another long-term initiative is the development of an astronomy program. While still in its planning stages, we are pleased to announce that our very first piece of astronomical equipment has already begun producing impressive results. Through the practice of astrophotography, we have begun studying the heavens—one of God’s most magnificent works of creation.
Using the Vaonis Vespera Pro, we recently captured images of three remarkable deep-sky objects.

Our first target was M20, better known as the Trifid Nebula, one of the most beautiful nebulae visible in the summer sky.[1] Its name, Trifid, means “divided into three,” referring to the dark dust lanes that separate the brilliant red hydrogen cloud into three distinct lobes. Located approximately 5,200 light-years from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius, the Trifid Nebula is particularly fascinating because it combines three different types of nebulae within a single object: an emission nebula,[2] where glowing hydrogen gas emits its characteristic red light; a reflection nebula,[3] where blue dust reflects the light of nearby stars; and a dark nebula,[4] where dense clouds of dust obscure the light behind them. The nebula spans roughly 40 light-years across.

Our second target was NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, located about 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.[5] This spectacular emission nebula was formed by the powerful stellar winds of WR 136, an extremely hot Wolf–Rayet star[6] believed to be nearing the end of its life. Measuring approximately 25 light-years across, the Crescent Nebula provides astronomers with a remarkable opportunity to study the interaction between massive stars and the surrounding interstellar medium.

Our third target was NGC 7000, the North America Nebula, one of the largest and most recognizable emission nebulae in the night sky.[7] Situated roughly 2,600 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus, this immense cloud stretches nearly 100 light-years across. Its popular nickname comes from its striking resemblance to the continent of North America. The bright eastern edge resembles the Atlantic coastline, while a dense cloud of interstellar dust forms the familiar outline of the Gulf of Mexico. The southern extension points toward the neighbouring Pelican Nebula, separated by another prominent lane of dark dust. The entire nebula is illuminated by a cluster of young, hot stars embedded within its vast cloud of ionized hydrogen.
With continued fine-tuning, multi-night observations, and more advanced image processing techniques, we hope to capture even more detailed and breathtaking images of these celestial targets in the months and years ahead.
The Heavens Declare the Glory of God
What, then, can we learn from the stars? Because the heavens are part of God’s general revelation—what we might also call creational revelation—they do not merely provide “evidence” of their Creator; they continually and objectively reveal His transcendent wisdom, power, and glory. Every person who gazes upon the heavens encounters the revelation of God (although sinful humanity suppresses this truth in unrighteousness, see Rom. 1:18–21). Far from being random points of light that supposedly “emerged” from a naturalistic, chaotic, uncaused “Big Bang,” stars exhibit extraordinary order, diversity, and complexity. Consider, for example, how they differ in colour, temperature, size, brightness, and composition. A star’s colour corresponds closely to its surface temperature, ranging from approximately 3,000 Kelvin for cooler red stars to nearly 40,000 Kelvin for the hottest blue stars. Our own Sun, by comparison, has a surface temperature of about 6,000 Kelvin. As it concerns luminosity, a star’s intrinsic brightness depends upon both its size and temperature, while its apparent brightness (what we can see) depends additionally upon its distance from Earth.
The field of modern astronomy has revealed that stars consist primarily of hydrogen and helium, with gravity balancing the enormous outward pressure produced by nuclear fusion within their cores. Among the most remarkable are the brilliant blue stars, the hottest, most massive, and most luminous stars on the main sequence. Because they consume their nuclear fuel at extraordinary rates, standard stellar models estimate that these stars exhaust their fuel in only a few million years. Those who begin with the historical claims of Scripture understand the continued existence of these short-lived blue stars as precisely what one would expect in a universe created by God only thousands of years ago. If the stars were created during the creation week, those with estimated lifespans measured in millions of years would naturally still be present today. By contrast, those who interpret the heavens within an old-universe framework explain their continued abundance by appealing to ongoing star formation over billions of years.[8]
Questions concerning the mechanisms by which astronomers explain stellar origins remain subjects of ongoing scientific investigation. Yet we need to constantly remind ourselves in the swelling current of secularized science that no investigation is “religiously” neutral; every interpretation proceeds from ultimate commitments concerning God, revelation, and the nature of reality. The prevailing naturalistic model proposes that stars form through the gravitational collapse of immense clouds of gas and dust. But this hypothesis continues to face significant theoretical challenges, including overcoming gas pressure, magnetic fields, angular momentum, and the efficient dissipation of heat. Although astronomers have observed nebulae and regions associated with stellar activity, the complete formation of a star through the collapse of an interstellar gas cloud has not been directly observed from beginning to end (neither has evolution, yet said “historical” science is heralded as if it were “empirical”).[9] Scientists who begin with the authority of God’s Word therefore understand the evidence within the framework of God’s revealed history, concluding that the stars were created by God during the creation week rather than arising through autonomous natural processes.
A fascinating fact you may not have known, astronomers also classify stars according to their chemical composition. Have you ever heard of Population stars? No, they’re not “populated” stars. It’s the classification system used by astronomers.[10] For example: Population I stars contain relatively larger amounts of elements heavier than helium, whereas Population II stars possess substantially fewer of these heavier elements. Cosmological models that presuppose naturalism further predict the existence of an even earlier generation of nearly “metal-free” Population III stars, but no such stars have been identified to date.
It’s a Matter of Worldviews
Believers and unbelievers observe the same heavens, study the same stars, and examine the same astronomical data. The difference is not in the facts themselves, but in the presuppositions through which those facts are interpreted. Every fact in the universe is a God-created fact and therefore can only be rightly understood within the framework God Himself has revealed. The question is never whether we will interpret the evidence through presuppositions, but which ultimate authority will govern those presuppositions. Those who begin with God’s self-attesting revelation in Scripture understand the heavens as the work of the Creator, declaring His glory and confirming the truthfulness of His Word. Those who begin with the assumption of naturalism or autonomous human reason interpret the very same evidence within an evolutionary, billions-of-years framework. The disagreement is not, fundamentally, over the “evidence,” but over the ultimate authority by which the evidence is understood.
At Worldview Campus, we seek to approach astronomy—as we do every academic discipline—with Scripture functioning as the foundational and infallible starting point for interpreting God’s world. Because the God who created the heavens is also the God who has spoken in Scripture, there can be no ultimate contradiction between His works and His Word rightly understood.
